From Russ' Heart

Holidays are over, family and friends have returned to their homes. I pray you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year with great anticipation and excitement on what the Lord has for you to do. As I was preparing to write I had all sorts of thoughts as we begin a New Year. Thoughts in my mind started coming together in our lunch and learn Wednesday men’s Bible study out of John chapter 2. In the Bible, John gives an account of the mother of Jesus at a wedding, where they ran out of wine at the feast. We pick up the event in John 2 verses 3-5; “And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine." 4 Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come." 5 His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it." Woman may have sounded harsh but Mary knowing about transition (moms you know that time well). She gave a command not as a mom but as one who understood it was transition time. No longer as a mother but as one who had to know him as Lord and Savior! As hard as it may have been, she knew this was transition time! A story was told of two soldiers who were in booth camp together with a demanding drill sergeant. The two soldiers made a pact that whoever would come out of the military first would make sure this commanding officer would pay for his way they were treated. One of the commands constantly given was, Keep your head down! Keep your head down! Upon entering their first call to duty on the battlefield (Transition Time) one of the soldiers picked up his head in the line of fire. Our commanding officer is giving instructions. Some of things the Lord calls us to do might sound hard to digest at first, but it is given to not only save our life but to keep us faithful in the fight. Beloved its transition time for every one of us! What has the Lord commanded you to accomplish in His word? I know at times you feel like well, it seems hopeless, however just like Mary, our response should be; “Whatever He says do it!” As soldiers in the war on the truth, may we be found ready and willing when the Lord Jesus Christ gives His instructions to GO during Transition Times! Have a Prosperous New Year!
